E-Mail Marketing: Not What You Think

There are a wide variety of different techniques that you can use in order to help increase the amount of conversions that your business makes, and e-mail marketing has been proven to be one of the most effective ways of doing so.  Yes, really.  Feel free to collapse in shock in your own time.

One of the biggest incorrect assumptions that people make about e-mail marketing is that it’s rather dull.  This isn’t actually the case, believe it or not.  Granted, a lot of e-mail spam that you receive will be rather iffy (GR0 B16 P3NIS, anyone?), but genuine e-mail marketing created by professionals is actually a very effective way of gaining some more visitors to your page.

For starters, when deployed (love that word, makes me feel like Harry in Spooks) by experts, the e-mails sent out from your firm will actually be going to people who want to hear about your latest offers.  We’re not in the business of sending promotional material about computer viruses to an acoustic guitar school, after all.

Secondly, we know the right time to be sending out the e-mails.  Believe it or not, the time of day that the mail goes out can have a big impact on how many people actually take the time to read it.  For instance, having them sent out at five to five in the evening will lead to quite literally no-one caring.  By that point, all people have in mind is their sofa and dinner.  However, breakfast time is a plus, because plenty of people now read e-mails during the most important meal of the day.  See?  We know these things.

Finally, it’s a really, really good idea to promote your offers.  If you’re having a sale on, then there’s a chance that people simply won’t find out about it.  Even semi-regular visitors might not have a look for a week or so.  Good e-mail marketing gently reminds them that it might be worth looking at your site, without provoking them into a furious rage.  That’s the sensitive touch, and it’s easy to get wrong.  Fortunately, we won’t.
